Art session on Gayemagal Country

What a great way to finish off the week!

Janine and Bob from Mirri Mirri spent Friday delivering an art workshop to the amazing staff at Tobias Design on the beautiful Gayemagal country in the Northern Beaches suburb of Manly.

The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to learn about Aboriginal art and cover topics including symbolism, stories, resources used in art and connection to country. Importantly, Bob and Janine encouraged participants to create their own artwork which spoke to their individual stories.

Bob was particularly impressed, saying “by allowing participants the chance to create their own artwork and add their own personal story, they became very connected with their work and further understood the significance of art for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”

Mirri Mirri would like to thank the Tobias team for having us along and getting involved in our art session.
